Account & Data Deletion Request

This page explains how to request deletion of your Simplifying Skills account and the personal data associated with it. We provide this option in compliance with Google Play's User Data policy and applicable data protection laws.
1. What you can request
You may request either of the following:
- Full account deletion — your account is permanently removed along with associated personal data.
- Partial data deletion — specific data is removed (for example, profile photo, assessment history, or uploaded documents) while your account remains active.
2. How to submit a deletion request
You can request deletion using either of the methods below.
Option A — In-app
- Open the Simplifying Skills app.
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Confirm your request. Your account will be queued for deletion.
Option B — By email (this web option)
Send an email to the address below from the email address registered to your account:

Subject: Account Deletion Request
Body should include:
- Registered email address or username
- Whether you want full account deletion or partial data deletion (and which data, if partial)
- A brief confirmation that you are the account owner
We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before processing the request. This is to protect your account from unauthorized deletion.
3. What data will be deleted
Upon a verified full-deletion request, we will delete the following data associated with your account:
- Profile information (name, email, phone number, profile photo)
- Authentication credentials
- User-generated and platform data, including SkillSphere assessment responses and reports, counselling session records, college or institution details, uploaded identity documents, and communication or newsletter preferences
- Usage history and in-app or website activity logs
- Device identifiers linked to your account
4. Data that may be retained
Some data may be retained after account deletion when we have a legitimate reason or legal obligation to do so. This is consistent with Google Play's User Data policy, which permits retention for purposes such as security, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance.

5. Timeline
- Acknowledgement: within 3 business days of receiving your request.
- Verification: we may contact you to confirm ownership of the account.
- Deletion: completed within 30 days of verification.
- Backup purge: residual copies in backups are removed within 30–90 days.
Note: Once deletion is complete, the action cannot be undone. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use Simplifying Skills again, and previous data cannot be recovered.
6. Third-party services
Where your data has been shared with third-party processors (for example, authentication providers, analytics, payment gateways, or cloud hosting), we will instruct them to delete the associated data in line with our data-processing agreements. Some providers may retain data independently under their own policies.
