One Chunk at a Time

In Ms. Reva’s classroom, after her students successfully prioritized their subjects, she noticed some were still struggling with managing their study time. To help them, she gave them a situation and asked:

If you had to prepare for a big feast, had to cool too many dishes, how would you do it?

Students thought for a while and suggested first we will decide what all dishes we want to cook, then we will assemble the vegetables, then we will chop the vegetables; next, prepare the lentils; then, sauté the spices.

Ms. Reva appreciated the students’ responses. And further emphasised, just like you will do one task at a time, similarly you have to break your study material and focus on one chunk at a time.

By focusing on one task at a time, you will work more efficiently and enjoy the process. Instead of trying to do everything at once, break your tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. She advised. “Instead of trying to learn an entire chapter at once, focus on one section at a time. This makes studying less overwhelming and helps you remember better.”

By the end of the session, the students felt energized and accomplished. They realized that breaking their study time into smaller chunks made studying more productive and enjoyable.

Importance of Chunking  Technique

  1. Encourages Progress: Completing smaller tasks boosts motivation.
  1. Establishes Routine: Creates a structured study schedule.
