The Sewa Philosophy
SEWA stands for Social Empowerment through Work Education and Action. It is one of four strands in the CBSE system that mainstreams HPE. SEWA is a program that aims to focus on the mental, emotional, and social health of a student. SEWA includes Environmental projects, Civic responsibilities, Democracy projects, Health and fitness projects and various International projects.
Aim
To develop a person's intellectual, personal, emotional, and social growth. Learners participating in this program are encouraged to embrace a mindset of lifelong learning, continuously seeking knowledge and growth. Through experiential learning, they are provided with opportunities to engage actively, becoming not only informed citizens but also empathetic and compassionate human beings who contribute positively to their communities.
Objectives
Guiding children towards constructive activities that has positive outcomes and nourishing their creative abilities. By nurturing these skills, children can develop the self-confidence and self-esteem needed to navigate challenges and succeed in various endeavors. This approach empowers them to explore their potential, think innovatively, and overcome obstacles with resilience, ultimately contributing to their overall growth and well-being.
Key Points
This philosophy helps in enhancing self-awareness and empathy, which in turn facilitate the cultivation of creative and critical thinking skills. By focusing on becoming a caring and compassionate individual, one builds an environment of empathy and understanding. Furthermore, developing a sense of competitiveness with oneself drives continuous improvement in self-performance, while also encouraging the evaluation of strategies for further enhancement.
